{{ before I'd lay me down to rest ,
i'd throw away [ everything ] to live.
Jasper could never figure out why everyone was so thrilled about the summer time. Alright, sure, everyone got a few months off from school, but other then that, what was so special about it? The heat and humidity was absolutely disgusting, and there was never any way off cooling down besides sitting inside in front of an air conditioner for twelve hours or so, since the beach was always crowded (not like there was one around here, anyway) and public pools were unsanitary. It never made any sense to him how people could actually enjoy such months of torture. Then again, perhaps they wouldn't be so horrible if Jasper at least had a decent wardrobe to fit the season, like everyone else. Hell, he didn't even own a pair of shorts, let alone anything else that would be more suitable for summer weather. Not only that, but the humidity always messed up his hair and made it look stupid. No matter how much time he took styling it and putting hair spray in, it became flat and icky two seconds after he walked out the door. It was extremely frustrating, especially since Jasper had always been very obsessive-compulsive when it came to his appearance.[/font]
Despite all these reasons to hate the season they were currently in, Jasper's daughter, Emelia, absolutely adored it. But what six-year-old didn't, right? Plus, not only did she get a break from school, but she got to come out with her dad on occasion and watch a concert. How exciting was that? Well, some little kids may think such a vacation to be boring and uneventful, but Emma loved every minute of it. She was able to spend more time with her father, allowed her to see what he did for a living, and, being the social butterfly the little girl was turning out to be, got the chance to meet a bunch of new people... even if they were all older then her. It was all sort of a win-win situation in her eyes.
On the other hand, her father was not as thrilled as having his daughter accompany him on tour as she was. It wasn't that he didn't love spending the extra time with her, but with all the big crowds and constant movement, he feared he'd end up losing her. Hell, he already had a few times, due to the rather short attention span Jasper had. Luckily, though, he found her again each time, after suffering a panic attack while running around the venue in search of her. The little girl had a habit of disappearing every now and then; Jasper didn't think he'd be able to survive if she ever disappeared for good.
Currently, though, it didn't seem like something he would have to worry about, considering Emma was in plain view of him, playing with one of those big, slightly obnoxious, yet very bouncy, balls they had picked up at the mall earlier. It seemed to be keeping her occupied, if only for the time being. The little girl was having a good time kicking it around in front of the bus and throwing it up in the air, while her father sat on the step, fanning himself femininely with a few papers he had found inside, just trying to find some kind of relief from the terrible heat they had been plagued with. That feeling of lethargy that often came with it was also beginning to sink in, making poor Jasper feel as though he could pass out at any second. Fortunately, though, Emelia seemed to have enough energy in her to keep them both going for a while. "Wantta see how far I can kick it, daddy?" She asked eagerly, a broad smile over her face as she looked at her father. Jasper returned her grin, sitting up straighter in attempt to wake himself up a little more. "Sure, go for it, Ems." He responded with a nod, watching as the little girl threw the ball into the air and kicked it powerfully with her right leg. A laugh of delight escaped her lips as she saw it land at someone's feet a short distance away.
( ooc sorry, this is kind of crappy and the ending is really horrible. D= )
