;; The sweetest thing I ever tasted... Invite me to pray, let the music glow
Touring was great and all, it really was. And the outdoor arenas? Those were the best. The sun shining in your face, the unlimited number of fans that could stand on the lawn and just listen to you play - even in the sweltering heat - just because your music meant that much to them? Not to mention the amazing power the crowd had outdoors. It was something about the fresh air that made every single person on that lawn excited to just be in your band's presence. This of course, happening only when the weather was decent. For Heck No! Techno's afternoon set, there had a been a few clouds in the sky - sure. Whenever were there not? But all in all, the sky had been decently clear, and the weather had been warm and comfortable - not too hot, and not too humid.
Now, however, was a different story.
The rain hit the roof of the Newark mall with alarming strength, and the wind outside rattled the windows frightfully. Scarlett wasn't concerned, however. She had been around the country more than enough times to see some bad weather - and this wasn't even the worst. But, seeing how deserted the mall was at this hour, and how the few people who WERE wandering around kept nervously glancing above them to make sure the roof didn't cave in on them or something, told Scarlett otherwise. Apparently this was actually pretty bad for Jersey standards.
Quite frankly, it was a perfect situation for her. Even though there were minimal to no people wandering about the long walkways of the mall, Scarlett had still tied back her bright orange hair with a hair scrunchie, and stuck it all under a black beanie hat. The more Heck No! Techno toured, the more recognized she and her band mates got. And while she didn't mind it sometimes - in a small, quiet setting - she had seen more than once that it was a terrible idea to get recognized somewhere public - like a mall or a movie theatre. This caused a very... Stampede-like result.
She hadn't been able to endure staying in the tour bus, cooped up alone, and not being able to go anywhere outside because of the weather, so she had decided to head to the mall. Wandering around aimlessly, she wondered where Rayne and Frank had gone to. More than likely, they had stayed backstage after the set, and were still there - not risking walking through the heavy storm outside.
Sighing, she flipped over her cell phone and considered calling her friends to come join her. Looking at the corner of the screen, she noted she had no service. ''Great,'' she said, dejectedly. Already, she was beginning to regret coming to the mall in the first place. It did not provide any more entertainment than the tour bus did.

So summer came with lots of sun, humidity, girls who couldn't wait to take their clothes off, and thunderstorms. The set earlier that day had been perfectly comfortable. Fans were moshing, Scarlett was belting, Frank was spazzing, and Rayne was jamming. Rayne had watched on multiple previous occasions as fans bought water bottles only to pour it over their heads. Rayne had taken a page out of their books and done it a few days before in the tour bus, herself. "It did work...", Rayne muttered sighing. The set had ended a few hours ago, and Rayne had stayed backstage with Frank to hang out with some friendly techies.
Upon realzing that Scarlett was gone and mountainous black clouds were piling up over the venue, Rayne began to slightly panic and dove for her phone in attempt to call Scarlett. One ring, two rings, three rings "Hi, You've reached Scarlett, I can't come to the phone right now, but if you leave a message I'll get back to you as soon as possible! Thanks!", BEEP. Rayne groaned and shut the phone to put it into her pocket. She turned to one of the techies, "Sam? Tell Frank Scarlett's gone missing. I'll go check the bus, then outside of the venue.", she concluded pulling on her sweatshirt that had been thrown aside before the set.
"Sure thing, Sugar-Ray.", Sam said giving her a thumbs up and handing her, Sally, her precious bass. Sally, the name given by Rayne to her bass guitar, was of course based on Sally from Tim Burton's beloved masterpiece, The Nightmare Before Christmas. We're simply meant to be, was the phrase that reminded Rayne of her precious Sally when she first saw her.
Rayne carefully locked her away in the case and tugged it into the tourbus. "Hello? Scarlett?", Rayne shouted slightly walking into the bus, and looking around. No note, nothing was in sight. Rayne sighed and went over to her bunk, storing the bass under her bed. She clambered up to the top and pushed aside the curtain, only to be met with Scarlett's un-made bed and a pile of clothes.
Rayne sighed slightly and tugged her messanger bag over her shoulder, preparing to go to the one place that would actually interest Scarlett. The Mall. Rayne walked out of the venue quickly and glanced up at the sky every so often as if a large rock was about to start falling. Thankfully, the venue was within walking distance of the mall, and Rayne already saw it at a distance, just as heavy raindrops began to fall from the sky.
"Fuckin' fabulous.", Rayne said breaking into a run, not keen on getting wet in summer storms. She stepped into the mall shaking her hair like a wet dog and putting on sunglasses. Seeing as they had been touring for a few months, people were finally starting to notice who they were. Luckily, Rayne did not have a very in-your-face appearance, and her face was easily forgotten, unlike Scarlett's bright red-orange hair which she had felt was necessary for her image.
Rayne sighed dejectedly and let her hair fly loose around her face as she sauntered into the mall, searching the premesis for a familiar red head. Spotting Scarlett's familiar hat, Rayne walked over to her. "Oi! Scar! We were getting worried! Beds empty, no note, you could have died! You could'ave been seen!!!", Rayne sarcastically recited the familiar line from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Surprisingly, however, this was the first time 'you could'ave been seen', actually worked properly in the situation.

;; The sweetest thing I ever tasted... Invite me to pray, let the music glow
Scarlett wandered around the mall more, without a real purpose, tugging her hat lower on her head as she passed a group of teenagers who looked at her and began to whisper amoung themselves excitedly. ''Pleasedon'trecognizemeandcomeuptomepleasedon'trecognizemeandcomeuptomeplease
[/i]'' she silently prayed, as hurried past them. Whether or not they recognized her though, remained to be seen, as they did nothing about it. They just kept whispering and giggling excitedly as she passed by. Scarlett breathed a sigh of relief as she passed them. If they had known who she was, at least they didn't bum rush her in a scary stampede like some fans had the tendency to do. Scarlett stifled a yawn as she headed towards one of the carts in the middle of the mall that sold soft pretzels and lemonade. She hadn't eaten anything since just before their set - and that had been at 2 this afternoon! It was now about 6:30. Her stomach growled as to prove her point. As she got in line behind a very large woman, she slid open her phone, and checked it just out of habit. Though - success! She had service! ..And a missed call. Clicking on the missed call, she found out that it was from Rayne. Not surprising. Rayne had a tendency of calling her often when her phone was either dead/dying, or out of service in the area. Figuring she'd call her as soon as she had some of that delicious pretzel in her stomach, she moved up in the line and placed her order. Picking up her pretzel and lemonade, she walked over to her favourite spot to sit and people watch - the walls that surrounded the indoor fountains. They were low enough to sit on top - yet high enough for your feet to swing over the edge as well. However, she did not get far enough to swing herself up onto the ledge before she heard a very familiar voice. '' "Oi! Scar! We were getting worried! Beds empty, no note, you could have died! You could'ave been seen!!!'' Scarlett turned around to see Rayne standing there, and giggled. '' Sorry, luv,'' she said, as she walked over to her friend, offering her a sip of her lemonade. '' Wanna split the pretzel as a token of my utter sorrow?'' she said, pouting a bit, as she offered the pretzel to Rayne, swinging herself up onto the ledge besides the fountain. Pulling a piece of her pretzel off, she turned back to Rayne. '' How'd you find me anyway, Ray?'' she asked, covering her full mouth with her hand. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Rayne smirked at her surprised look, and then offered her lemonade. "Don't mind if I do.", Rayne said taking a sip of the sweet liquid and smiling as it cascaded down her throat. "Yes please and thank you!", Rayne said helping herself to some of the pretzel.
"Scar. I've known you for what. Over ten years now? It's thunderstorming, the tour bus got boring, and this is the only place in down that could be potentially entertaining for you! But judging by the way you just bought your lemonade and pretzel, alone, and by the way you were about to go sit by yourself on this very bench made it pretty damned obvious that you were bored out of your mind.", Rayne said in a well-duh voice.
"So I am here, to provide you with various forms of entertainment.", Rayne said smiling and throwing a piece of pretzel up in the air in attempt to catch it with her mouth. Rayne grinned victoriosly as the piece of pretzel landed gracefully on in her mouth. "We still have a good four or so hours before the busses leave for the next venue.", Rayne pointed out seeing as it was six o'clock, and it took a good deal of time for the techs to get all of the equipment together.

Scarlett smiled sweetly as Rayne grabbed her lemonade, and bits of the pretzel. So, she was forgiven - for the time being at least, or until Rayne got hungry again. She stared out at the passing people while Rayne threw bits of the pretzel upwards and caught it in her mouth. It was amusing to see this little show out of the side of her view, and also amusing to watch various groups of random people walk by. There was the old power-walking grandmother, who seemingly only came to the mall to get a workout. There was the annoying group of ghetto kids, with their pants hanging halfway off their asses, large hats covering their heads, and humongous [but fake] diamond studs in their ears. As they stumbled by Rayne and Scarlett, she caught a large whiff of Axe. Or Tag. Or whatever the fuck they sprayed on themselves now. Point is, it wasn't pretty. Scarlett coughed, making a face, as she waved away the putrid air from in front of her face.
''Oi. Why do little teenage boys think it's sexy to bathe in only cheap cologne spray? And I do mean literally bathe - as in, use the cheap spray instead of water and soap. That's pretty disgusting,'' she remarked, gagging exaggeratedly, and miming sticking a finger down her throat.

[/i]" '' Boo. You do know me way to well,'' Scarlett remarked, scratching the back of her neck. '' But what can I say? It's true. What else am I gonna do on the tour bus in the rain? I've reread that article reviewing Heck No! Techno about 3 dozen times already, and guitar hero kinda gets boring after a solid six months. That, and I totally needed to move my ass somewhere, or soon, I won't be able to fit into those pretty little shorts of mine,'' she said, adopting a falsely blonde voice, and twirling a bit of her hair, as she stated the last part of her sentence. She broke off another piece of the pretzel, and placed it into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully. '' We still have a good four or so hours before the busses leave for the next venue.[/i]'' '' Khay, swo vot thood we doo noow?'' she asked, through her full mouth, as she took another swig of lemonade, and swallowed. '' I meant; so what should we do now?'' she said, clearing her throat, and looking sheepishly at Ray. [[ooc; =P]][/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Rayne smiled and continued tossing the bits of pretzel up in the air and then catching them with her mouth, she however stopped as a large group of ghetto kids walked by, their pants hanging around their knees, their boxers exposed for the world to see, and their shirts the size of circus tents. "Y'know, I LOVE belts.", Rayne said loudly nodding at Scarlett. "Especially ones that keep my pants from falling down to my knees.", Rayne continued loudly putting more pretzel elegantly into her mouth. The group of kids merely gave her dirty looks as they walked by and Rayne tried not to gag from the amount of Axe they were wearing. "Y'know what else I love, Scar?", Rayne started smirking slightly, "Oxygen!", Rayne finished exhuberantly, as they turned and gave her a final death glare, not that she cared.
''Oi. Why do little teenage boys think it's sexy to bathe in only cheap cologne spray? And I do mean literally bathe - as in, use the cheap spray instead of water and soap. That's pretty disgusting,'', Scarlett said mimicking vomiting. "I'm really not sure, Scar. We're ones to talk...not having a normal shower for the last three months.", Rayne said giggling slightly.
''Khay, swo vot thood we doo noow?', Scarlett said with her mouth full of pretzel. "I beg your pardon?", Rayne said looking at Scarlett as if she had two heads. ''I meant; so what should we do now?'', Scarlett said after clearing her throat. "Well I propose we follow those ghetto kids and continue to make snide comments about suspenders, and fake diamonds.", Rayne said drastically, jumping off the edge of her seat. "Or we could go to hot topic and buy up half of the store.", Rayne stated smiling and hooking her arm in the crook of Scarlett's elbow.
They continued walking past the occasional groups of people. The preppy blondes, in small pink skirts who kept looking up at the ceiling and mumbling something about 'getting their hair mussed'. The jocks, who were following the preppy blondes and making comments about how their triceps could now handle 60 pounds instead of last weeks 50. The stoners who were wandering aimlessly through the mall, incapable of walking in straight lines and occasionaly walking into other people and objects and mumbling incomprehensible apologies.
As they neared Hot Topic Rayne grinned, "Y'know, I'm almost out of my mints...", she remarked thoughtfully nudging Scarlett. "Are you in need of anything specific from this holyness of a store?', Rayne asked.

"Y'know what else I love, Scar? OXYGEN!
[/i]'' Scarlett giggled at Maizie's statement, and glared back at the ghetto kids as they passed. Good lord. She hated people who strutted around any place, acting as though they owned it; as though the others were merely lucky to be in their presence. But hey, that was the life of a teenager - ' you either were one of the stuck up bastards, or you dealt with them everyday,' Scarlett thought, wistfully, as she remembered her days in the hell that was called high school. Taking another sip of the sweetly addicting lemonade, she swallowed, and sighed contently. '' We're ones to talk...not having a normal shower for the last three months.[/i]'' '' Ah, hush Ray,'' Scarlett smirked, fwaping her friend playfully. '' Our circumstances are quite acceptable - after all, living on a tour bus, one cannot expect to live in the finest lap of luxury ever,'' she remarked, as she sipped up the last drops of the lemonade. Frowning, she shook the container - and, once being completley reassured it was empty - she got up and threw it away. " Well I propose we follow those ghetto kids and continue to make snide comments about suspenders, and fake diamonds. Or we could go to hot topic and buy up half of the store.'' '' ...I'll go with the second option, Ray. Fake ghetto kids or not - I still don't wanna have a cap busted in my arse,'' Scarlett remarked, as she hopped off the wall alongside Rayne, as she hooked her arm through Scarlett's elbow. The girls walked together through the mall, getting occassional weird stares. Scarlett wasn't sure if it was because they were walking with their elbows hooked, or because people recognized them. But in the end, I suppose it didn't matter. No one really did anything but the nasty look, so she wasn't too concerned. Again, they passed more groups of stereotypical people; the preppy girls with their bags of Hollister, and Abercrombie, and whatever else; the jocks with their football jackets and obnoxious voices; the stoners with their glassy eyes and unkempt hair; the list seemed to go on and on. Finally, they were about two or three stores from Hot Topic, when Rayne turned to face Scarlett. '' Y'know, I'm almost out of my mints... Are you in need of anything specific from this holyness of a store?[/i]'' '' Haha.. You and those mints, Ray... You and those mints. Sure, we can go in. I'm not specifically in need of anything, persay... But I wanted to see if this store's got some of our band tees in stock. Just outta curiousity, y'know? After all... That mag article totally got us a shitload of publicity - more and more people are gonna want our merch,'' she said, as she already started pulling Rayne towards their favourite store.[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
